Metro Atlanta CEO – On Oct. 8, a nicely dressed crowd gathered to celebrate at the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta — but the reason they were there had nothing to do with touchdowns or interceptions. Instead, the roughly 500 in attendance were there to recognize community partnerships — like the longstanding relationship between the Georgia Lions Lighthouse and Emory Eye Center — a bond that has made it possible for hundreds of thousands of uninsured and under-insured Georgians to access top-notch eye screenings and follow-up care. Saporta Report (December 2, 2024) – In metro Atlanta, a transformative effort called The Atlanta Vision Project is setting out to provide vision screenings, eye exams, and glasses to every elementary school-aged student in need, at no cost to students or their families. Aimed at addressing the challenge of accessing vision care, this initiative has clear objectives: ensuring that every child in our region has the chance to see clearly, learn effectively, and grow confidently. Bolton Academy students received free eye screenings through the Sight For Kids program, which was co-founded by the Lions Club International Foundation and Johnson & Johnson. Volunteers performed the vision checks and helped order pairs of fresh eyes for those who needed them. View Video
Atlanta, GA (October 7, 2024) – Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation announces they will provide comprehensive eye health care to address the growing need for vision care services for children in some of the most populated counties in Georgia, made possible through the Sight For Kids program, co-founded by Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) and Johnson & Johnson. The Covington News (August 12, 2024) Hubbard first began her Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, Inc. volunteerism in 2014-15 when she served as the Council Representative for the Council of Governors. Hubbard has also served as Member at Large, Secretary and Vice Chair of the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation Board before being elected as Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation Chair this year 2024-25. Hoodline (March 14, 2024) — Vision is crucial for learning, and for many students at Atlanta’s Deerwood Academy, that vision is about to sharply improve. In an initiative that has provided free eye screenings and glasses to public school students, the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation (GLLF), in partnership with Atlanta Public Schools, is making a significant impact on children’s lives. The initiative was made possible by a generous $50,000 donation from automobile manufacturer Kia. Read Article

Atlanta, GA (February 2024) – Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation donates $100,000 to Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation’s statewide Tele-Optometry vision program to serve uninsured and underinsured Georgians. Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, Inc launched the first-ever, nonprofit, statewide tele-optometry vision exam pilot in April 2022. Learn More

(Savannah Business Journal) February 1, 2024 – Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, the state’s top
organization for providing vision services for children, adults, and seniors who otherwise do not have access to vision care, has announced that Lois Modell has joined their Board of Directors. Lois Modell has been the Executive Director of the Savannah Association for the Blind for more than a decade. In this position, she plays a major role in bringing the Blind Community to the forefront of Savannah and growing our awareness in the community. Learn More
