Fashion with a Mission took the runway again on April 2nd, ushering in the next generation of talent, with fashion design students showcasing high fashion designs made using recycled eyewear. Guests enjoyed bidding wars on great silent auction items while the Emerald Empire Band played and Endive served up seasonal small bites.
The event was hosted by WSB-TV’s Audrey Washington, with Atlanta’s Factory Girls taking over the Project Runway style fashion show. The well attended guest list included Lions from across the state, healthcare partners, and fashion industry supporters.
Sponsors included Genuine Parts Company, Georgia Retina, Thomas Eye Group and the North Cobb Lions Club.
The judging panel boasted fashion experts, with Melanie Woodroff, creative brand collaborator and lifestyle blogger; Lacee Watkins, Modern Luxury Magazine; Felicia Ruiz, Factory Girls; and Ashley James, founder and designer of Ruell and Ray Denim, judging the designs based on use of lenses, originality, and quality. The winning design was created by Sidney Walker of Georgia Southern University, who took home a $1,000 scholarship.
