We happily accept eyeglasses of all types and in any condition of wear – All prescription glasses are sent overseas on mission trips. We are able to distribute reading glasses and non-prescription sunglasses here in the United States. Scratched and broken glasses are used in our annual Night of Spectacles fundraiser.
We also accept donations of cell phones and hearing aids as part of our Cells for Sight program. The phones and hearing aids are sold to refurbishing companies, and the proceeds are used to fund our sight-saving cataract surgeries, retinopathies, and detached retina corrections.
Host a Recycling Drive
The Lighthouse is looking for volunteers to hold recycling drives at their school, work, or church. We collect eyeglasses, cell phones, and hearing aids in any condition. If you would like a collection box to hold a recycling drive, please email .
Take Glasses Overseas
We receive and recycle more than 100,000 pairs of glasses every year, but we need help distributing them to people in need. We have single vision glasses, bifocals, prescription sunglasses, and a limited number of reading glasses and non-prescription sunglasses.
If you or a group you know is going on a mission trip and you would like to bring glasses along, please contact us! If there is an optometrist or ophthalmologist in your group, we can give you the glasses with the prescriptions already read. If there is not a vision specialist going with you, we can give you unread glasses, and people can try them on until they find a pair that works for them.
