Since 2013, we’ve sent over 130,700 recycled eyeglasses internationally with medical mission groups. This is made possible through our Recycling Center at our main office in Chamblee, Georgia. We have a dedicated network of Lions Clubs members and corporate and community volunteer groups who help to manage the flow of donations. Volunteers can wash, sort, read eyeglass prescriptions and prepare boxes for shipment on medical mission trips.
• Eyeglasses of all types and in any condition of wear, including prescription eyeglasses, readers, and sunglasses
• Donations of cell phones and hearing aids, in any condition
*To donate your used eyeglasses, cell phones or hearing aids, please mail to or drop off at our main office at 5582 Peachtree Rd, Chamblee, GA 30341. If you are dropping off, our hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday. If our location is too far and you do not wish to mail, then please contact your local Lions Club for a list of their donation drop off locations. A donation receipt will be provided upon request.
Where your donations go:
• By law we are unable to dispense used prescription eyeglasses to patients in the U.S. – all Lighthouse patients receive brand new eyeglasses. We are able to provide Georgians in need refurbished and gently used readers and non-prescription sunglasses
• Prescription eyeglasses in good condition are shipped internationally on mission trips
The Lighthouse provides a unique opportunity for organizations traveling outside the U.S. to provide eyeglasses to our neighbors in need in other countries. We have single vision eyeglasses, bifocals, prescription sunglasses, and a limited number of reading glasses and non-prescription sunglasses available.
If you or a group you know is going on a mission trip and would like to bring eyeglasses along, please contact us!
To request glasses for an overseas trip, download the documents below and send the necessary documents (or questions) to email@example.com.
– Eyeglass Mission Report (to be completed after trip)
*Request for glasses should be made at least one month prior to their expected delivery date.
In order to meet the demand for eyeglasses requests for mission trips, we need your help getting them ready! There are many opportunities to volunteer at our Recycling Center. These include, but are not limited to- washing, sorting, and reading eyeglass prescriptions.
